Spidroin 2 is a fiber protein from the silk of the spider Nephila clavipes . It is related to fibroin from the silkworm .
properties
Spidroin 2 occurs in all types of spider fibers. The large middle part of the amino acid sequence consists partly of repeats. Spidroin 2 has the characteristic sequence motif glycine-glycine - tyrosine , just like spidroin 1 , and also the motifs glycine- phenylalanine (GP) and glutamine-glutamine (QQ). Spidroin 2 is phosphorylated .
