The spinner (derived from the English to spin “to turn, rotate”), rocking spoon or terribles is an artificial lure in fishing . It consists of a metal sheet that rotates around its axis when pulled and by the resulting stimuli (pressure waves) tempts predatory fish to bite. The lateral line organ (sense of distance) of the fish is stimulated by these pressure waves . The color design of the metal leaf can also affect the biting behavior, so there are variants in shock colors (orange, neon yellow) and signal colors (red) as well as more natural alternatives (red gold, silver or shiny golden as well as scales or eyes).

Mepps spinner

One of the most famous spinners is the Mepps spinner. It was invented in 1938 by the French Andre Meunart. Only after the war did it find its way into the fishing shops of the time. In 1951 the owner of a tackle shop called Shodon added the Mepps Spinner to his range.
