Spinnup

Spinnup is a distribution platform of the Universal Music Group that offers musicians and unsigned artists the opportunity to publish their music worldwide through online retailers such as Deezer , Spotify , iTunes , Apple Music , Amazon Music , Google Play and Napster . A special feature of Spinnup is that the artists keep their rights to their songs, but have to pay for distribution. In addition, the sales department offers collaboration with talent scouts who are looking for new music and new artists.
Emergence
Spinnup was developed and founded in 2013 by Universal Music in Sweden . The online sales locations are Sweden, Denmark, England, France, Norway and Germany, with the service being usable worldwide. Spinnup belongs to the label Universal Music and the Spinnup scouts are in close contact with the A & Rs of the major label. In July 2014, Spinnup started under the direction of Karl Nowak in Germany.
International success
In Sweden at this time the Spinnup artist Albin reached first place in the charts with his song "Din Soldat". In the same year the Swedish house music duo Vigiland followed , which is now also under contract with Universal Music. With their first four singles, Vigiland has already achieved over 250 million Spotify streams. The first English band to be discovered by a Spinnup talent scout in October 2014 was Model Airplanes. The two winners Nanik (2015) and Infinit (2016), who have been successfully signed to Chapter ONE / Universal, have already emerged from the #Raptags contest, organized by Spinnup and Chapter One / Universal. Other German artists who got a contract with Universal through Spinnup include: a. Chris Brenner and the live duo Frank & Friedrich. With their first single “Coming Home”, the live duo Frank & Friedrich has already reached over 3 million streams on Spotify. In May 2017, Spinnup celebrated the 31st artist who signed a record deal with Universal Music through the online sales service. At the end of 2016, Spinnup announced that a total of over 100,000 artists had registered on the platform to date.
