Upper Engadin Hospital
The Spital Oberengadin ( Rhaeto-Romanic in the idiom Puter Rhaeto-Romanic ) in Samedan in the Upper Engadin is a regional hospital publicly owned by the Upper Engadine District . It is on Via Nouva at the northeast exit of the village towards Bever .
The hospital is the second largest hospital in the canton after the Graubünden Cantonal Hospital and the largest employer in the Upper Engadin in the year-round balance sheet. It has 220 full-time positions and 300 employees.
Departments
The hospital, designed as a hospital for extended basic care , with service contracts also for the Lower Engadine , Val Müstair , Puschlav and Bergell, includes the following institutes and clinics:

- surgery
- gynecology
- radiology
- anesthesia
The hospital also maintains the emergency and intensive care departments .
history
The predecessors of the Upper Engadine Hospital were the infirmaries from the medieval and early modern times of the plague . These existed in Samedan (below today's Roman Catholic Church), in Pontresina , Zuoz and St. Moritz .
The modern Upper Engadin Hospital has existed since 1895, at its current location since 1914. A hospital association founded in 1881 had carried out the preparatory work and initiated the district vote in 1892, which was successful with 381 to 21 votes.
