The Spitalbrücke is a bridge in Nuremberg and connects the Sebald city side with the island of Schütt at the level of the Heilig-Geist-Spital .
history
In 1457, at the place of an older wooden bridge destroyed by the Pegnitz , behind the battlements of the penultimate city wall from 1320/25 between the rear large island of Schütt and the churchyard of the Heilig-Geist-Spital , which is now called Hans-Sachs-Platz, the hospital bridge was raised Form rebuilt again from wood. Like its southern counterpart, the hay bridge , it was replaced by a stone structure in 1485. Both bridges were adapted to the increased traffic volume and widened around the middle of the 19th century.
