Mikhail Ivanovich Doller

Mikhail Ivanovich Doller , Russian Михаил Иванович Доллер (* 1889 in Vilnius , Russian Empire ; † March 15, 1952 in Moscow ) was a Russian film director and screenwriter . He worked for the film companies Meschrabpom and Mosfilm , worked closely with Vsevolod Pudovkin and was awarded the Stalin Prize twice in 1941 .

Life

Michail Doller was born in Vilnius in the Russian Empire (today's Vilnius, Lithuania ). He completed his training at the theater school in Vilnius in 1910 and worked as an actor and director on various stages between 1912 and 1922. Between 1922 and 1924 Doller studied in Lew Kuleschow's theater workshop. Between 1925 and 1936 he worked as a film director for Meschrabpom-Rus and Meschrabpom-Film , where he was involved in films such as The End of St. Petersburg (1927) and The Fishermen's Uprising (1934). After Meschrabpom-Film was dissolved, Doller worked for the Mosfilm film company from 1936 and co-directed the films Sieg (1938) and Minin i Poscharski (1940) with Vsevolod Pudowkin .
