Splendid Medien AG is a German media company that operates primarily in German-speaking Europe and the Benelux countries. The listed parent company of the integrated group is based in Cologne ; it is listed on the regulated market ( General Standard ) on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

history

In October 1974 Albert E. Klein (born January 8, 1929) founded the film distributor Splendid Film after 20 years in a managerial position at the US film company United Artists . In October 1979 the sole proprietorship Splendid - Film Albert E. Klein e. K. with its registered office in Düsseldorf is entered in the commercial register. In 1980 the founder's son, Andreas R. Klein (* 1962), joined the company.

Since 1999: Splendid Medien AG

On June 30, 1999, Splendid Medien AG was founded under the management of Andreas Klein as a holding for the Splendid Group. It went public on September 24, 1999 in the Neuer Markt segment and is listed on the regulated market . The share is traded under the symbol SPM. The share was listed in the Prime Standard until October 27, 2009 , and in the General Standard since October 28, 2009 .

On December 31, 2019, the long-serving board members Andreas Klein and Alexander Welzhofer left the board for personal reasons. Dirk Schweitzer then moved to the board.

Business areas

Splendid Medien AG sells films and offers services in the film production business. The group is divided into two business areas, these are content and services . The content business area includes license trading , film and program exploitation in cinema and home entertainment ( DVD , Blu-ray , VoD , EST ) as well as film and TV production. The Services business area includes digitization and film synchronization.

Group companies

As the parent company, Splendid Medien AG is the management holding company of the Splendid Group . As such, it determines the strategy of the group of companies and takes on overarching holding functions such as accounting, financing, general administration, public relations at group level and investor relations.
