Splin ( Russian Сплин ) is one of the most popular rock bands in Russia and is based in Saint Petersburg .
The band was founded in 1994 by Alexander Wassiljew and Nikolai Rostowski. Her first album was released a year later. The success began around 1998 when the band landed a hit in Russia with the song "Орбит без сахара" (Orbit without sugar) and appeared in Moscow that same year as the opening act for the Rolling Stones . Since then, their popularity in Russia has steadily increased.
Above all, Splin is characterized by an experimental, alternative style.
