Sihlhölzli sports facility
The sports complex Sihlhölzli located in the district of Wiedikon in Zurich between the Sihl and Manessestrasse. It was built as a municipal sports facility, which it still serves today. There are two listed buildings on the site that were built by the construction company Heinrich Hatt-Haller. The facility was planned around 1927/28 and includes an outdoor athletics facility and a gym . These are framed by avenues of trees. There is also a music pavilion and a toilet facility with a kiosk. The entire facility is fenced in and set up like a park.
In the 18th century there was a baroque park in the same place , which was redesigned in the 19th century by Leopold Karl Theodor Fröbel .
Sihlhölzli gymnasium
The gym was built between 1930 and 1931 according to the plans of city architect Hermann Herter and the engineer Robert Maillart . It is a neoclassical, axially symmetrical building. The building is classified as worthy of protection and is therefore a listed building.
Sihlhölzli music pavilion
The shell-shaped concrete building was also built in 1930/31 as a joint work by city architect Hermann Herter and the engineers Robert Maillart and FM Osswald. The building is classified as worthy of protection and is therefore a listed building.
Athletics facility
The athletics facility meets the requirements of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and has a type B arena with 6 lanes. The plant was completely renovated in 2005.
