The Implenia AG , headquartered in Dietlikon in the canton of Zurich is a construction services company in Switzerland with activities in civil engineering in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. It was created in early 2006 from the merger of Basler Batigroup Holding AG with Geneva-based Zschokke Holding SA.

In 2019 the company achieved a consolidated turnover of around 4.4 billion Swiss francs with over 10,000 employees .

history

Implenia emerged from a series of mergers between regional construction companies. In mid-1997, the Preiswerk Holding AG , the Swiss road construction and civil engineering company AG (Stuag) / Stuag Holding AG and the Schmalz AG Bauunternehmung / Schmalz Holding AG merged to form Batigroup Holding, based in Basel. Batigroup's core competencies included in particular classic construction activities, including road construction, mastic asphalt, civil engineering, tunneling and building construction.

Zschokke Holding was based on the Conrad Zschokke corporation founded in Aarau in 1872 by Conrad Zschokke (1842–1918) . Through acquisitions and mergers, the Heinr. Hatt-Haller and Göhner Merkur AG (total contractor) parts of Zschokke Holding, whose headquarters were most recently in Geneva. In addition to building construction, Zschokke particularly acquired general planning, general contracting and property management.

Due to the largely complementary business areas, Zschokke and Batigroup merged to form Implenia between 2005 and 2006 . ZB Didumos AG , founded as a placeholder company for the future company, was renamed Implenia AG in 2005 .

The shares of Zschokke and Batigroup were on 3 March 2006 after close of trading on the Exchange SIX Swiss delisted . The merger was carried out by exchanging shares for the new Implenia shares, with a value ratio of 65 (Zschokke) to 35 (Batigroup). The first day of trading for Implenia shares on the Swiss stock exchange was March 6, 2006.

In 2010 Implenia took over the Norwegian Betonmast Anlegg, an infrastructure specialist in Norway. Since March 2015, the German Bilfinger Construction (now renamed Implenia Construction) with activities in Germany, Austria, Romania and Sweden has been part of the group. In 2016 the acquisition of Bilfinger Hochbau took place .
