Burlington ( Kentucky ) is the county seat of Boone County , with 10,779 inhabitants. The settlement extends over 21.9 km².
history
Burlington emerged from the settlement of Craig's Camp in 1800 , after the decision was made in 1799 (at the first county court in Boone County) to move the administrative headquarters there. The newly formed parish was first named Wilmington , but was later renamed Burlington in 1816 at the request of the post office and to avoid confusion.
