The state sports school Ruit is one of the two training, education and further education facilities of the Württemberg State Sports Association in the Ruit district of Ostfildern .

The sports school, which was founded in 1948 under the name of Ruit Youth and Sports Leadership School and is now called the Ruit State Sports School, is a center for competitive and top-class sports, for the training of instructors in popular and recreational sports and for promoting talent in competitive sports. It is of particular importance for national and international football. Numerous foreign national teams, the German U15 to U21 national teams and Bundesliga clubs hold training camps in the sports school. The school is a federal trampoline base, a branch of the Stuttgart Olympic base and a state performance center for boxing. It serves as a training center for top-class sports in weightlifting, basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball, American football, archery, badminton and other sports. The offer also includes a gymnastics school, a teaching center and training courses for acquiring a football coaching license.

On the 16.5 hectare campus area there are numerous sports halls and outdoor facilities (grass pitches, artificial turf pitch, mini pitch), various seminar rooms and accommodation houses with over 110 single and double rooms. The state sports school works with the German Olympic Sports Association and the German Football Association, among others. With 43,000 overnight stays per year, it is one of the largest sports schools in Germany.
