The Sportunion Greisinger Münzbach is an Austrian sports club in the market town of Münzbach .

Sporting successes

Several sections have been established over the years: football (1964), skiing (1971), fistball (1975), tennis (1985) and chess (1987).

The sports club was founded on September 23, 1964 and the soccer team played in the 2nd national league from 1983 to 1987 . The women's team in the fistball section reached the 1st Austrian Bundesliga in 1994 and the men made it into the 1st Bundesliga in the hall in 1998 and on the field in 2002.

The best placings were achieved by the women's fistball team in 2001 with the championship title on the field in the women's regional league and the men's fistball team in 1998 with the championship title in the hall and in 2002 with the championship title on the field in the 2nd Bundesliga. In 2000 and 2004 the men's team reached 4th place in the hall in the 1st Bundesliga.

Successful athletes

Sigrid Haslinger, Kerstin Schartmüller, Patrick Schartmüller and Manuel Lemp are or were athletes of the club who were accepted into the national junior teams of their sport. Patrick Schartmüller won the silver medal with the Fistball Team Austria at the European Fistball Championship 2012 and is a member of the Austrian men's A-team. Manuel Lemp has won two medals in a fistball world and European championships with the U18 and U21 junior national teams.

Sports facilities

The soccer team began their game on a field north of the market (Auf der Schwemm) on a sports field with simple changing rooms, which was opened in 1969 and subsequently supplemented with a floodlight system. Following the general renovation carried out in 1980, a clubhouse was built. After the expansion of the sporting offer with a strong focus on the training of young athletes and the achievement of sporting success, a new sports area with a clubhouse was created between 2002 and 2006, which is also used as a venue for fistball Bundesliga games.
