Fede Galizia
Fede Galizia (* 1578 in Milan ; † 1630 ibid) was an Italian painter .
Live and act
Galizia was born the daughter of the miniature painter Nunzio Galizia in Milan, where she lived her entire life. She was her father's student, but more important to her style was that she studied old masters. In 1595 she became so famous for her portrait drawings that her name reached the court of Emperor Rudolf II . She portrayed u. a. the Milanese scholar Paolo Morigia , the physician Ludovico Settala and their parents. A self-portrait is also preserved . In the later years she turned to figures and saints . A major work from this period is a Noli me tangere , which she made in 1616 for the church of Santa Maria Maddalena and which ended up in the Brera Gallery in Milan . Also known are a Saint Charles with a cross for the Sant'Antonio Abate in Milan and two half-length portraits of Christ and Mariae for the high altar of the Certosa di Pavia . A Judith from 1601 owns the Galleria Borghese in Rome .
Galizia's paintings are assigned the eclectic style.
