Nunzio Galizia
Nunzio Galizia (* before 1550 in Trento ; † November 9, 1621 in Milan ) was an Italian artisan and miniature painter .
Live and act
Little is known about the life of Nunzio Galizia. He was born in Trento and moved to Milan around 1570, where he bought luxury items such as Spanish fans but also copperplate engravings and miniatures. In 1578 his daughter Fede Galizia was born in Milan. Possibly he went to the Savoyard court in Turin at the end of the 16th century , but was back in Milan before 1610, where he from then on lived with his wife Caterina and the rest of the family.
In addition to his activities as a miniature painter, he was also active in many other branches of the arts and crafts . Especially appreciated were his from paste muschiate (with precious musk perfumed mass) manufactured items he about to adorn ceremonial garments used. He made a dress for the Duke of Mantua for the wedding of Grand Duke Ferdinand of Tuscany . He also designed costumes for the play Caduta di Fetonte (1595) in Milan. He was also known for his work from shells and amber and probably also made jewelry.
