history

In 1872 men who were enthusiastic about sports founded the gymnastics club, which was registered as the gymnastics club Mergelstetten 1879 on August 14, 1879 . From 1920 football and fistball were included in the offer. The gymnastics and sports field that became necessary was created on the Mergelstetter Reutenen by the members themselves. The inauguration took place on October 2, 1921. In 1928, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Mergelstetten community , the Zoeppritz company donated a gymnasium and festival hall , which the association used as a training facility.

On December 29, 1933, the club was renamed Turn- und Sportfreunde 1879 e. V. In 1937, the cycling club joined forces with gymnastics and sports fans in 1903 . In order to map the entire range of sports, the club name was changed to Sportverein Mergelstetten 1879 e. V. changed.
