Spot is a dog-like walking robot developed by Boston Dynamics .
Spot
Spot was presented to the public in 2015. The four-legged robot, which weighs around 73 kilograms and is driven by electric motors, manages rough terrain as well as stairs.
SpotMini
On June 23, 2016, Boston Dynamics unveiled a smaller version of the dog-like robot called SpotMini. With a weight of 25 kg and a height of 84 cm, it can reach a speed of 5.8 km / h.
Launch
In 2018, Boston Dynamics announced that it would offer the robot as a product for sale in the future. Possible uses include, for example, parcel delivery, surveying work and property monitoring. The robot can be controlled via a gaming tablet.
The market launch was finally announced on September 24, 2019. The robot, which is again being marketed as “Spot” (instead of “SpotMini”), could initially only be rented . In different configurations, for example with a gripper arm, Spot can be used for different purposes.
