Spring Waltz (kor. 봄 의 왈츠 ) is a 2006 South Korean television series directed by Yoon Seok-ho and starring Seo Do-young , Han Hyo-joo , Daniel Henney and Lee So-yeon . It aired from March 6 to May 16, 2006 on KBS2 in 20 episodes. The series is the fourth and final installment in director Yoon Seok-ho's Endless Love series, which follows Autumn in My Heart , Winter Sonata and Summer Scent .

Lee Soo-ho ( Seo Do-young ) is a wealthy young man who leads an honorable life as a gifted pianist. In contrast, Jae-ha had a miserable childhood with his father, who had been a con artist.
Seo Eun-young ( Han Hyo-joo ) lived happily with her mother on Ch An Island. The disaster began when Lee Jong-tae ( Lee Han-wi ) and his son Soo-ho (Jae-ha's real name) showed up. The man stole money from Eun-young's mother that was earmarked for Eun-young's operation. When her mother went to Seoul to look for Jong-tae, she died in an accident.
Jae-ha's foster mother Hyun Ji-sook ( Geum Bo-ra ) was also present at the hospital she was admitted to because of her son's death. Her husband, Yoon Myung-hoon ( Jung Dong-hwan ), asked Soo-ho to be their son, and they would repay Eun-young for surgery. Soo-ho now took over the identity of Yoon Jae-ha (the name of her deceased son) and flew to Austria. Eun-Young has now successfully received her operation. She grew up with a new family, made accessories and sold them.
One day Eun-young won an exhibition competition and was awarded a trip to Austria. There she met Jae-ha and his friends Phillip ( Daniel Henney ) and Lee Yi-na ( Lee So-yeon ). When Jae-ha and Eun-young met for the first time, there was no radio, but they were slowly becoming attracted to each other. Jae-ha eventually made the shocking discovery that Eun-young is the girl he had met in the past. He tried to hide this from Eun-Young, but she found out and left.
When Eun-young tried to forget Jae-ha, she returned to Korea and met him again.

Spring Waltz is the closing feature of Yoon Seok-ho's season drama series Endless Love . In this mini-series, the message of the drama is conveyed through the spring season. Love is compared to the way spring brings life and hope. Love is depicted as a gentle embrace of the protagonists' lonely hearts, who have become cool and numb in the middle of a long and harsh winter.
Another notable addition is that this series is the only one of the four seasons that contains an overseas location, namely in Austria, where filming took place in well-known tourist locations such as Hallstatt and Salzburg . In addition, most of the means of production come from external sources and investments made by domestic and foreign stakeholders. With news that the drama will be sold in nine countries including Japan , Taiwan , Thailand , Hong Kong , Singapore , Malaysia , Macau , Brunei and the Philippines , the series attracted widespread attention even before it aired in March.
One of the most noticeable differences from the previous miniseries is the casting. All four of the main characters were newcomers who played a leading role for the first time. The casting of the two main actors - Seo Do-young (an actor who previously appeared in minor supporting roles in a few TV series) and Han Hyo-joo (an actress who mostly appeared on the teenage sitcom Nonstop 5 ) - brought about a controversial but new twist in the staging of the drama. Sung Yu-ri was originally cast as Eun-young, but when she pulled out of the series, Yoon unexpectedly picked Han, who auditioned for a smaller role. Daniel Henney is perhaps the most high-profile actor of the four, largely due to his role in 2005 in My Lovely Sam Soon .
Initially, the character Philip was not intended. But after Henney auditioned, the director decided to create a new role just for him. Lee So-yeon, on the other hand, had more television and film experience, especially in 2003 with Untold Scandal . In interviews, Yoon stated that he made a conscious decision to work with new actors rather than hiring existing actors.
Known for his ability to bring picturesque landscapes and unforgettable music to the screen, Yoon uses the spectacular view of Lake Hallstatt to convey Jae-ha's grief and longing for his lost identity and lost love.
One of Yoon's main themes for this series is Cheongsando Island, a place that appears to be isolated from the rest of the world. He and his production teams have reportedly spent months looking for the perfect island situation. They finally decided on some islands in the South Jeolla province . In Cheongsando, young Soo-ho and Eun-young meet as adults, and on Hanuneom Beach in Bigeumdo the children share their innocent feelings of affection and love with one another. Spring Waltz offers a fantasy of first love, a longing for nostalgia and perfect places to escape the reality of everyday life.
