Springside was a whiskey distillery in Campbeltown , Argyll and Bute , Scotland . The former warehouses are sorted into category B in the Scottish monument lists.
The distillery was founded in 1827 by Colvill, Beith & Co. , and the buildings were erected in 1830. Little is known about the history of the distillery. It was closed in 1926. Most of the buildings have now been demolished.
Alfred Barnard visited the distillery as part of his whiskey trip in 1885 as the last distillery of his long stay in Campbeltown, he gave only sparse information about its equipment. Annual production capacity was 30,000 gallons , making it one of the smaller Campbeltown distilleries. There were a coarse still ( wash still ) with a capacity of 1205 gallons and a fine still ( spirit still ) with a capacity of 394 gallons, in which a malt whiskey was produced.
