Spyken is a three year high school in Lund , Sweden .
history
Spyken was founded as a private secondary school on February 1, 1848 at the request of the population . In the first semester, 15 students went to school. In 1896 the school was named Lund's private elementary school . The name of the secondary school still survives today in the name of the district where the school is located.
The history of the grammar school can be divided into four epochs:
- The nomadic era of the school 1848–1869.
- The Middle Ages of the School 1869–1898.
- The New Era from 1898.
- The contemporary epoch under city administration since 1968.
The school today
Today the school has four different branches: the humanistic, the aesthetic, the natural science and the social science branch. In the 2011/2012 school year, around 1000 students were enrolled in these four school branches. The number of teachers and other employees has now risen to 140 people.
Well anchored in history, Spyken believes that all students who leave Spyken will be well prepared for the future, with curiosity and good confidence in the world of the future.
Many of the students do not live in Lund, but in the surrounding towns and villages. The city of Lund has well advanced plans to build a new high school in the future.
