Srikalahasti is a city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh .
The city is part of the Chittoor district . Srikalahasti has the status of a municipality . The city is divided into 17 wards .
Demographics
The city's population is 80,056 according to the 2011 census. Srikalahasti has a gender ratio of 1053 women per 1000 men and thus a rare surplus of women for India. The literacy rate was 78.7% in 2011. Almost 85% of the population are Hindus , approx. 13% are Muslims , approx. 1% are Christians and approx. 1% belong to another or no religion. 10.3% of the population are children under 6 years of age.
Attractions
A major attraction is the Srikalahasti Temple , which makes Srikalahasti a holy city. The temple was originally built in the Pallava era and the current structure was built in the 11th century under the rule of the Chola kings . The Hundred Pillar Hall in the temple was commissioned during the regime of Sri Krishnadeva Raya in 1516 AD.

The city is connected to the national rail network via its own train station.
