Sriprat (also Si Prat , Sriprachya or Sripratch , in Thai : ศรี ปราชญ์ ) a Thai writer during the Ayutthaya period .

Sriprat was the son of Phra Horathibodi . Considered one of Thailand's greatest poets, he began his career when he was nine years old. He was hired as the royal page when he completed the poem that King Narai expected from Phra Horathibodi.

The father suspected that the son would get into trouble later. He asked the king for consideration in the event that the son did not behave properly. In this case, he should be exiled, but not executed.

At first the poet showed his talent in many poems, but then he had to be exiled to Nakhon Si Thammarat because of a love affair with a lady of the royal court . There he quickly became the center of literary circles again. He was sentenced to death by the governor in Nakhon Si Thammarat because of another love affair . When King Narai learned of the execution, he was so upset that he demanded the governor himself be sentenced. So the last words of Sriprat came true when he said: "I did not do anything wrong, may his sword pay him back ..."

Sriprat wrote two major works: "The Story of Anirut" ( Anirut Khamchan ) and the Nirat "The Suffering of Sriprat" ( Kamsuan Sriprat ).
