Stéphane Braunschweig

Stéphane Braunschweig (* 1964 in Paris ) is a French theater director and theater director.

Life

Braunschweig attended the Lycée Victor Duruy in Paris and studied philosophy at the École normal supérieure de Saint-Cloud . In 1987 he moved to the École du Théâtre national de Chaillot , directed by Antoine Vitez , where he was trained for three years. Then he founded his first own ensemble, the "Théâtre-Machine".

From 1993 to June 1998 he was chief director of the Center dramatique national Orléans-Loiret-Center in Orléans .

From 2000 to 2009 he was director of the Théâtre national de Strasbourg and the associated theater school.

In 2010 he took over the management of the Théâtre national de la Colline in Paris from Alain Françon .

In addition to his numerous theater productions, he is also regularly active as an opera director in France and internationally, including for the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Brussels opera house La Monnaie / De Munt , the Wiener Festwochen and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. He staged Wagner's Ring des Nibelungen for the Salzburg Easter Festival .
