from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Störtebeker open-air theater has been held annually from June to September in the historic Fort Kugelbake in Cuxhaven since 2009. The open-air summer theater is dedicated to stories about the German privateer Klaus Störtebeker .

history

In 2008 the city of Cuxhaven spoke out in favor of staging an open-air theater in the historic Fort Kugelbake. With the aim of promoting a cultural project with a regional reference, which brings amateur and young actors to the big stage, the company Cux-events was founded from a small family business, which supports the open-air theater economically. The association Theaterluft eV took over the artistic direction. In summer 2009 the theater was inaugurated with the play Störtebeker - The Secret Brotherhood . Störtebeker follows in 2010 - The Curse of Helgoland and in 2011 Störtebeker - The last ride of the colorful cow . The books and artistic conception come from Lars Priebe.

Staging

content

The Störtebeker open-air theater in Cuxhaven brings saga and legend, as well as historical backgrounds interwoven with fantastic and fairytale-like content on the stage. It presents itself as a mixture of historical theater, comedy and musical. In addition to numerous historical personalities, a number of fictional characters also appear, such as the Klabauterfrau Nele or the fateful spirit Kaja. As the narrator, personified time leads through the performance and occasionally adds philosophical excursions to the events.
