Program introduction
A program introduction (also a concert introduction or a season introduction ) describes cultural-educational events that are offered to the audience of cultural events before attending the performance. Written works such as opera guides or programs are also part of the program introduction in the broader sense.
Organizers of classical concerts, theaters and opera houses often offer lectures by artists, musicologists or dramaturges for this purpose , which take place either as an independent event (e.g. as a matinee on the weekend before the premiere) or as an accompanying program about an hour before the cultural event itself.
Kurt Pahlen's lectures at festivals in Vienna, Salzburg, Bregenz and Munich became known to a wider public . Pahlen also published numerous opera guides and other books designed to bring musical works to a wide audience. The introductory lectures by Erich Rappl and Stefan Mickisch at the Bayreuth Festival also always met with great public interest. Mickisch's lectures were also published on sound carriers.
Concert events, the self-introductory and explanatory word equity participations, will lecture concerts called.
