Parish church of St-Pierre, view towards the choir and tower

St-Pierre (German: St. Peter) is a Roman Catholic parish church in Plénée-Jugon in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany . The chapel is inscribed on the French Architectural Heritage Register.

history

The oldest part of the parish church of St-Pierre is the massive Gothic tower from the 15th century , which adjoins the north transept. The top of the tower was built in 1739. The medieval church itself was replaced between 1844 and 1853 by a representative new building in neo-Gothic style on a cross-shaped floor plan. The plans for the church were drawn up by the architect Jean-Marie Ramard from Dinan . When the church was rebuilt, Gothic portals from the previous building were taken over in the west and south facades. In addition, parts of the choir of the monastery church of the nearby Cistercian Abbey of Boquen , which at that time was still in ruins and not yet reconstructed, were reused. In 1856 a sacristy was added to the building.
