The list of mosques in the Old City of Jerusalem performs all mosques in the Old City of Jerusalem on. It also includes former mosques that are no longer used as such, ruins and archaeological sites. In addition, minarets , madrasas , Islamic monasteries ( ribat , zawiya ) and other Islamic places of worship and prayer were also included in the list. Muslim mausoleums (turbat) have also been added to the list, although not all are religious sites. The entire old city of Jerusalem is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is on the Red List of World Heritage in Danger .
Structure and abbreviations of the list
The names of the buildings are listed in German, Arabic and Hebrew. Coordinates, pictures, data on foundation or reconstruction, destruction or re-destruction, architectural styles and comments are attached. Column V (= quarter) shows the quarter in which the building is located, a = Armenian, c = Christian, j = Jewish, m = Muslim. There are several different names for some Islamic shrines. The designation chosen by Max Küchler was given as the German name. All others were noted in the "Alternative Names" column. As it is about Islamic shrines, the Temple Mount is referred to in this article by the name al-Haram al-Sharif, or Haram for short.
