The St. Anna Bridge in Laach is a pedestrian and cycle path bridge in the municipality of Mayschoss in Rhineland-Palatinate and spans the Ahr River .

history

The bridge is part of the Ahr valley cycle path and was completed at Easter 2005. Planning began in 1992 and was made more difficult by the lack of standards for this type of construction in Germany.

construction

This covered wooden bridge is the longest full-trunk bridge in Germany.

superstructure

Five Douglas fir logs each with a diameter of over 0.80 meters span the two bridge fields as single-span longitudinal members. Larch planks lying transversely on top of it form the roadway, which can be loaded up to 20 tons. A larch construction with a slate-shingle covering protects the bridge from the weather.

Substructure

The substructure is formed by the two abutments and a concrete river pillar faced with natural stones.
