Bannesdorf, St. Johannis

The St. Johannis Church in Bannesdorf on Fehmarn is an Evangelical Lutheran church from the 13th century. It belongs to the parish Petersdorf on Fehmarn .

Like other parish churches on the island of Fehmarn, the church was probably built in the 13th century. There is no written evidence. The bell tower, made entirely of wood and added in 1701, is unusual. The church is dedicated to John the Baptist .

The church choir is simple and clear. The architecture follows the north German brick Gothic .

The oldest piece of equipment in the church is a limestone baptism of Gotland origin from around 1240.
