The Evangelical Lutheran St. Martini Church is a church in Brelingen in the Hanover region .

history

A predecessor to today's St. Martini Church was built in 1483 to replace an older church. It had neither a choir nor a tower. In 1827 the church tower made of lawn iron was added to this church . Only 20 years later the church had become too small and was torn down. The still new tower remained standing.

The church building in its current form was put into use in 1849, and the organ also dates from this year. The architect of the church was the consistorial builder Ludwig Hellner . The church was originally planned for 1,000 people and is now the largest church in the area and one of the largest in the Hanover region . The church is known beyond the local borders for its excellent acoustics. The interior design has been changed several times, the current one dates from the 1960s.

The villages of Negenborn and Oegenbostel also belong to the parish .
