Architecture and history
The four-and-a-half- story house was built in 1887 by W. Höppmann . The eight-axis facade of the clinker brick building is designed in the neo-renaissance style and divided horizontally by plaster strips and profiled cornices . On the first floor , the four middle windows are each crowned with a small triangular gable. In front of the upper floors there is a flat side bay on each of the two outer axes. The mezzanine floor was later rebuilt.
Together with the neighboring house at St.-Michael-Straße 13 and the houses 5 , 6 and 10 , it is one of the most striking examples of the Wilhelminian-style development on the street. There is a special contrast to the smaller older buildings from the mid-19th century.
In the local register of monuments , the house is listed as a monument under registration number 094 76652 .
