The Church of St. Alban is a Roman Catholic church in Trebur , Groß-Gerau district . The church patron is Saint Alban of Mainz .

history

Today's St. Alban's Church continues the tradition of a church that was abandoned in the mid-16th century.

According to the files, St. Alban was probably the actual and oldest parish church in Trebur. In 1557 it says: “There were three churches, the one ERST in front of the town was called St. Alban and was the parish church. It has now been demolished and attached to the Rüsselsheim building (fortress). "

With the Reformation Trebur became Protestant, and only after the expulsion after the Second World War , Catholics settled in Trebur again.

Building description

Today's St. Alban's Church is a traditional hall church with an indented choir and was consecrated in 1965 by Cardinal Hermann Volk .

The concrete glazing of the chancel windows, designed by the Mainz glass and artist painter Gustel Stein , represents the special connection between the St. Alban Church in Trebur, St. Petrus in Ketten in Astheim and the Ev. Laurentiuskirche in Trebur .

In 1996 the old church tower was torn down and the community center was added until 1998.

After an interior renovation between 2003 and 2004, the church building was reopened with an altar consecration on March 7, 2004 by the Bishop of Mainz, Cardinal Karl Lehmann .

In addition to the concrete glazing, further artistic designs include a Way of the Cross by Marianne Haas from 1998 as well as pictures of the chancel by Brigitte Satori Constantinescu from 2004.
