St. Andreas (Gübs)

Sankt Andreas is the Protestant church of Gübs in the district of Jerichower Land in Saxony-Anhalt . The church has its origins in a hospital chapel, which was first mentioned in 1275. The church was partially destroyed shortly before the end of the war in 1945, rebuilt in the 1950s and renovated from 1993 .

The current building, a late Romanesque quarry stone building, is divided into the rectangular nave , the square choir and the semicircular apse . A half - timbered roof turret with a pointed octagonal helmet towers over the western front .

Inside the church has a horseshoe-shaped gallery and a rounded triumphal arch . The altar plate with a reliquary inlay comes from the Romanesque period. The baptismal font from the 13th century was originally in the neighboring Menz church .
