The parish and provost church St. Andreas is a church building in Seesen , a town in the district of Goslar ( Lower Saxony ). It belongs to the Protestant parish of St. Vitus and St. Andreas, the second largest community in the regional church of Braunschweig . The Protestant church center is in the immediate vicinity.

History and architecture

A fire destroyed the previous church in 1673, the present church was commissioned by the Duke Rudolf August of Lueneburg , in the period from 1695 to 1702 after plans of the fortress building director peoples of Braunschweig , as a court and palace church built. The duke's coat of arms has been preserved above the door of the western entrance.

Furnishing

In the Braunschweig area, the baroque church is unique because of its two-storey gallery and the connection between altar and pulpit , which is supported by eight columns.

organ

The first organ with two manuals , pedal and 26 registers was built around 1710/20 by an unknown organ builder on the second gallery. In the 19th century the organ was rebuilt, the Rückpositiv was removed and the organ was re-voiced according to the romantic taste of the time. In 2001/2, a new building was carried out in the old baroque organ prospect by Hermann Eule Orgelbau Bautzen . The organ was returned to its original state with the old original disposition . The sound structure and the register gauges are based on the art of organ building Gottfried Silbermann.

Bells

A six-part bronze bell hangs in the free-standing bell tower of St. Andreas, most of which were cast in Sinn by the Rincker foundry in 2019. The two smaller bells hung on cranked steel yokes with counterweight clappers in the roof turret of the church until April 2, 2019. Now they hang on straight wooden yokes with the four new bells in a wooden bell chair. The full bells sound at high feasts, as well as confirmations and other celebrations.
