history

The extension built in 1970

A first small St. Anthony chapel was probably built in the 15th century . Since at the time of the Reformation also believers from other localities attended the service in Oberschledorn, the small chapel reached its capacity limit. That is why it was demolished in 1664. A new building was erected at the same location. In a fire that took place on May 17, 1890, the church was also in flames. Only the monstrance and four statues, including that of St. Anthony and St. Agatha, were saved. For 4 years the service took place in the rooms of the school. On July 10, 1895, the foundation stone for the new building was laid in the town center. The construction was financed by the site. The church was consecrated on May 21, 1896. On August 19, 1903, the church received by the Paderborn Bishop Augustine Gockel the consecration . Since the population of the place increased, one dealt with a new building or an extension of the church for the first time in the 1960s. Finally, in 1968 it was decided to expand. The cultivation was consecrated on September 7, 1970. Today's organ was consecrated on March 24, 2002.

Special

In 2017 the church became a "color gloss church". There, visitors can operate a music and lighting system themselves and immerse the church in colorful light.
