history

Various archaeological finds show that the Petrovice area was settled at an early age. A common box grave of the Aunjetitz culture found in 1927 is considered unique , in the grave chamber lined with flat stones the bones of nine people were in a crouched position .

Petrovice was probably founded shortly before the intensive colonization of the area around Krumlov in the first half of the 13th century. The first written mention of the village took place in 1253 on the occasion of the consecration of the church in Stehenitz , where the pleban of Petrowicz Godefridus was present as a witness. Little is known about the medieval ownership structure in Petrowitz, because of the desert village of the same name near Božice and other places in the area, some news cannot be assigned. Presumably there was a Vladiken seat in Petrowicz . As Kadold of Dobřensko in 1298 along with his brother some goods the Knights Templar left, belonged to the vineyards in Petrowicz. Nezcyl de Petrowicz , who appears as a witness in the contract, was probably the owner of Petrowicz or part of it. It is believed that the Templars coming to Tempelstein also acquired Petrowicz a little later. After the destruction of the Knights Templar, Petrowicz came to various noble landlords, including the Lords of Pernstein . The Petrowiczska Hora vineyard , in which the Saar Monastery also held shares in addition to the surrounding villages and markets , had its own mining rights, including neck jurisdiction. In 1385 Bohuslaw von Pernstein sold the village Petrowicz, which had previously belonged to his Cadow estate , with a farm to the owner of Krumlov Castle , Beneš von Krawarn . The farm in Petrowicz can be traced back to the beginning of the 15th century. The vineyard with its own place of execution, located in today's Kokešperky corridor , became extinct in the 15th century. Petrowicz always remained part of the Krumlov rule. Landlords were the lords of Krawarn until 1434 and then the lords of Leipa . After a date carved in stone on the old church, it was built in 1484. After the Battle of White Mountain in 1621, all of the goods belonging to Berthold Bohuslaw ( Bohubud ) von Leipa, who was a leader of the Moravian estates, were confiscated. In 1625 Gundaker von Liechtenstein acquired the Krumlov rule, which then remained in the possession of the House of Liechtenstein for almost 300 years . In 1751 the church was renovated. In 1784 the Religionsfonds donated a pub and school in Petrowitz.

In 1835 the village of Petrowitz or Petrowice , located in the Znojmo district , consisted of 74 houses in which 364 people lived. Under the patronage of religion Fund for were deanery Hosterlitz associated Lokalie and the Exaltation of the Cross Church. Petrowitz was the pastor for Dobelitz and Lisnitz . The old church was demolished in the years 1846–1849 and replaced by a new building. Until the middle of the 19th century, Petrowitz remained subordinate to the Fideikommiss-Primogeniturherrschaft Moravian-Krummau .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Petrovice / Petrowitz 1849 a municipality in court Moravia Kromau . From 1869 the village belonged to the Moravian Kromau district . At that time Petrovice had 397 inhabitants and consisted of 81 houses. In 1900 there were 446 people in Petrovice; In 1910 there were 398. In the 1921 census, 435 Czechs lived in the community's 103 houses. In 1930 Petrovice consisted of 118 houses and had 461 inhabitants. After the German occupation, the community was reclassified in 1939 to the judicial district of Hrottowitz and the district of Mährisch Budwitz; until 1945 Petrovice / Petrowitz belonged to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . After the end of the war, the old district structures were restored. In 1950 Petrovice had 413 inhabitants. In the course of the territorial reform and the abolition of the Okres Moravský Krumlov, the municipality was assigned to the Okres Znojmo on July 1, 1960 . Attractions

  • Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, built between 1846 and 1849 in place of a previous building from 1484. The unstable, boggy subsoil resulted in wall cracks, which resulted in repairs in 1887 and the installation of iron trusses at the beginning of the 20th century. During the Second World War a shell struck the church tower; the cartouche was built into the church wall as a memorial.
  • Došková chalupa ( Thatched Chaluppe ), erected in the early 18th century house is the only surviving Chaluppe with rye straw roof in the Znojmo region. Originally this type of construction was typical for the cottagers in the south-west Moravian villages. In 2011 the community bought the house. Today it serves as a rural museum.
