history

The first documented mention of Bochtitz from 1253 mentions a parish church. At the beginning of the 14th century the place as part of the estate belonged Wolframitz , the Wischegrader Chapter at Prague that it, along with the patronage rights in Wolframitz and the villages Lisnic and Selchowic in 1321 to Henry of Lipa at Castle Kromau hereditary for 2000 Prague marks sold. Von Leipa gave up the property soon afterwards.

From 1346 to 1356 the feudal lord of Bochtitz was the Markwart Voytel von Bochtitz, together with Miksik von Geiwic. In 1346 Miksik von Geiwic (Mikšík z Kyjovic) Bochtitz resigned to the Landkomtur of the Teutonic Order for Bohemia and Moravia, Stibor Pflug and the Komtur and pastor to Hosterlitz , Berchtold, for 62 marks and 12 groschen.

The place was still in the possession of the order in 1359, because at that time the Komtur von Hosterlitz, Johann, sold the Dalleschitz nunnery a hereditary interest rate. In addition, a knightly family later named themselves after it, which was wealthy in Aschmeritz . In 1448 Racek von Zborowitz registered his ownership rights to Bochtitz.

Georg Kussy von Mukodiel owned the estate in 1491 and 1500.

In 1535, the Bohemian Marshal Johann von Leipa sold his share of the Veste Bochtitz, together with the village and the farm, as well as the villages of Ledce , Zelowic , and the desert areas Wlcikeř and Zalekowic, to Johann Kussy von Mukodiel. His son Mathias succeeded him as the owner around 1542. In 1545 the Anabaptists settled on his permission . In 1560 Stephan Kussy von Mukodiel took possession of the village, who bequeathed the estate to his son Wilhelm in the course of his will of 1576. After Wilhelm came Jan (called Hanuss) Kussy von Mukodiel, who on April 14, 1597 drove the Anabaptists from their farm and estate and took their property for himself. However, the Anabaptists returned to their farm after a year.

In 1615 the evangelical church of Bohutice was built and consecrated.

On August 1, 1619, the village was completely burned down by the mercenaries of General Dampierre. Hanuss' sons Stephan and Wilhelm lost Bochtitz because of their participation in the class uprising of 1620. At the end of 1620 the Bochtitzer lord was an imperial lieutenant named Michael von Althan.

On September 25, 1627, King Ferdinand II gave the castle and village of Bochtitz, as well as the villages of Selowitz , Wedrowitz , Zabrdowitz and Wolfsgarsten , to the Znojmo Jesuit College, which on March 10, 1673 also gave the village of Babitz from the descendants of the royal judge in Brno, Georg Schilling, bought Rhenish Florenos for 4075.

On January 5, 1622 the village was looted and the house of the Anabaptists was set on fire, the Anabaptists were finally driven out. At this time the preacher of the Word of 1610, Konrad Blösi (26.VIII.1621) died in Bochtitz. The church behind the village had been neglected since 1657.

The oldest register of residents dates from 1641 and lists 39 families.

In 1663 the Jesuit College had the small church on the hill behind the cemetery repaired, so that holy masses were celebrated there in 1664.

In 1709 the Wolframitz pastor made his claims to the Bochtitzer church. However, the Olomouc bishop Bochtitz left the property of the Jesuit college.

After the abolition of the Jesuit order on July 21, 1773, the church was desecrated. Instead, the cemetery chapel was built. Windmills were built on the site of the church, but they were sold and demolished in 1850 because of the frequent damage caused by storms.

The school was founded in 1785, and in 1807 70 children attended it. The property was transferred to the study fund, and on October 15, 1789, the kk Moravian-Silesian State Property Disposal Commission Johann Topolansky leased it to Johann Topolansky for annual interest of 7508 Florenos. In 1803 there was a beer brewery and a fabric factory. After Topolansky's death, his widow Theresia married Wenzel Petritsche. He kept the estate even after her death on December 31, 1804 as a result of a settlement with the other heirs on July 15, 1805. After his death on June 22, 1825, his daughter, Aloisie Petritschek, inherited the village. She then married the manager of her property, Josef Seydl.

From 1840 to 1850, lignite was mined in Bochtitz.

On December 3, 1866, Aloisia Seydl was confirmed by the financial procurator as the legal owner of Bochtitz. By the marriage contract of December 14, 1869 Josef Seydl got half of the Bochtitz estate.

In 1868 the railway came to Bochtitz.

In 1867 a rectory was set up in Bochtitz and the construction of the church began. The Church of the Assumption of Mary was completed and consecrated in 1870. It had 4 bells with the names "Virgin Mary", "St. Wenceslaus", "St. Michael" and "St. Joseph". The building of the church was financed by the landlord Josef Seydl and his wife Aloisia. In 1876 the school library was founded by Josef Seydl, who dedicated 76 books to it. Josef Seydl died in 1878, after his death the estate was valued at 82,792 Rhenish guilders. 1/6 of the ownership of Gut Bochtitz fell to Heinrich Seydl, 2/6 to Karl Seydl, 1/6 to Rosalia Seydl, 1/6 to Obsieger Maria and 1/6 to Henriette Mauer.

In 1889 the volunteer fire brigade was founded. In 1907 a new school building was built. In 1909 Anna Seydl bought 5 shares in the estate, Rosalia Seydl kept her share. Thus the two sisters were co-owners of the estate and village. In 1910 the Sokol gymnastics club was founded. The Sokol clubhouse was opened on July 8, 1923. On August 23, 1925, the club house was opened by the gymnastics club Orli (Adler).

On December 31, 1928, electric lighting came to the village.

On June 25, 1935, a new Protestant church was opened. The last landlord was Hans Seydl-Neuschel. Adopted by the landlady Anna Seydl and born in Neu Prerau near Nikolsburg, Hans Neuschl took the surname of his foster mother. During the protectorate he was the village administrator. As a Sudeten German , he was expelled from his estate after 1945.

On March 1, 1957, the local LPG (Agricultural Production Cooperative) was founded.

Attractions

The most important historical buildings in the village are the Bochtitzer Castle and the Assumption Church of St. Mary. In the castle there is an exhibition of wooden statues depicting the Way of the Cross of Jesus Christ. This exhibition, as well as the four chateau cellars in the chateau courtyard, arose from the tireless efforts of the then mayor Pavel Štefka.

Behind the village there is a pilgrimage site that represents the Lourdes grotto. It arose from the plans of Pastor Antonín Prášek and was inaugurated on July 22, 1928. On the way from the grotto to the cemetery there are 3 stations of the cross. This Way of the Cross was also created by Pastor Prášek. His plan was to set up 13 stations of the cross, but his plans were forever interrupted by the war and the socialist regime.

To the southwest of the village center stands a statue of St. Michael in the midst of vineyards on Michálek ( formerly known as Steinhübl ). The Michálek is a nature reserve.

In the vicinity of the village there are baroque statues of St. Michael, St. Florian, St. Wenceslas and St. Johann. There is a cemetery chapel in the cemetery, which served as a replacement church until 1870. It is the family crypt of the Seydl family.
