history

In the course of the collectivization of agriculture, the JZD ( Jednotná zemědělská družstva ) were formed in Czechoslovakia in the late 1940s . The state-owned large estates was state farms ( Československé státní statky serviced). One of them was the state estate of Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou , which had been formed from the lands of Count Khuen von Belasy , expropriated after the Second World War . The estate also included an agricultural business in Hrádek , which was located in the former Malina estate. The largest arable land in the area in the northern part of the Dyjákovice cadastre was selected for the construction of a large animal production facility for the Hrádek farm . The new facility for the production of cattle, pigs, poultry and sheep should cover an area of 2000 to 2500 hectares of land. In 1950 the farm was established and it was named Velky Karlov . This was derived from the nearby old sheep farm Karlov ( Karlhof ), whereby the attribute Velký should reflect the size of the facility.

It soon became necessary to build a standby settlement for the livestock workers next to the farm. In 1953 the first seven semi-detached houses were built west of the farm, and another five the following year. The new farm workers' settlement was named Velký Karlov like the farm, but it was initially given the official name Nový Karlov . In the years 1958–1961, the settlement was expanded by 32 semi-detached houses. With the construction of a temporary water supply and sewer system as well as a soccer field, it received the first signs of a village infrastructure. At the same time, the dirt road to Božice train station was paved with macadam . The further development of the infrastructure with social facilities, supply facilities, transport connections and public lighting was decided in 1958. From 1960 Velký Karlov received the status of a district of Dyjákovice. A bus connection, a shop, a pub or a doctor's office were still missing. There was a temporary kindergarten in the village in a barrack near the stables, and schooling took place in Dyjákovice. In 1967 the road to Šanov was paved, and between 1958 and 1969 the road to Dyjákovice was paved. On November 26, 1971, a local national committee was elected in Velký Karlov , so that the village of Dyjákovice broke up.

In 1974 32 modern single-storey residential units were built. In 1977 the first private single-family houses were built. The annexation of the state estates Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou and Miroslav to the state estate Znojmo in 1978 had a very negative effect on the Velký Karlov farm. The sectoral economic structure introduced at that time replaced the previous local structures with new units based on the type of production. After that, five different farms were active in the farm, of which only the pork and poultry farm Velkochov was located on site. In 1981 Velký Karlov was again incorporated into Dyjákovice. It has been independent again since 1990.

After the Velvet Revolution , the farm was privatized and is part of AGRO Jevišovice as The broiler producer established a crocodile farm in Velký Karlov in 2005 to dispose of immature chickens, initially with 250 reptiles; The plan is to keep 1000 animals. Its subsidiary ZEVO spol. sro has been operating a biogas plant since 2006 . After a petition from 137 residents of the municipality because of the unbearable stench, the operator of the largest biogas plant in Central and Eastern Europe at the time, with an output of 2.7 MW, was fined 2 million crowns by the Ministry of the Environment because the plant had never been approved . The organization "Děti Země" protested in 2008 against mass breeding and the expansion of the crocodile farm to 800 animals. Since April 2013 crocodiles have been considered animals for slaughter in the Czech Republic and can therefore also be bred for slaughter purposes.
