history

Archaeological finds show an early settlement of the municipality. Most of the finds come from the church mound, where there was a burial site at the site of the church and cemetery. The oldest building of the village is in the second half of the 13th century through the temple Steiner Templars St. Wenceslas Church built. After the order was abolished in 1312, the church patronage passed to the Maltese Coming from Old Brno . However, there are no written records from this period.

The first mention of Dolní Dubňany took place in 1350, when Ctibor of Ratibořic the Freihof Dolní Dubňany four farmsteads his son Philip of Poličzin in Landtafel prescribed. The owner of the village was Střežma von Némčic, who gave it to Philip von Kostnik in 1352 together with the parish. Two years later, the latter acquired five more hubs in Dolní Dubňany from the widow of Čučkrag von Dubňany, Margarethe . Jindřich von Dolní Dubňany sold these five hubs in 1359 for 50 marks to Mrax von Lhota, who in 1376 then prescribed his wife Bolka 45 marks . In 1379 Mrax von Lhota guaranteed his daughter-in-law Katharina 100 marks for half of the festivities and the Dolní Dubňany farm. In 1385 Johann von Plač sold his property in Dolní Dubňany to Jacob von Oponěšic. In 1407 Elisabeth von Dobrawoda left five and a half Huben in Dolní Dubňany to the brothers Jan and Příbik von Bořečkowic; on the rest of the property she took her husband Peter Kozlovec von Rudka into community of property. Wenceslaus von Čyčka used Dolní Dubňany's title in 1412 ; what share he held is not known. In 1415 Peter Kozlovec sold a Hube in Dolní Dubňany to Bohunek von Wischenau . The lords of Leipa on Krumlov acquired most of the village before 1447. In 1503 Heinrich von Leipa withdrew the church duties in Dolní Dubňany from the Old Brno Maltese . The other three hubs later came to Johann von Pernstein , who left them to Johann von Leipa in 1530. So Dolní Dubňany belonged entirely to the Krummau dominion. After the Battle of White Mountain in 1621, all of the goods belonging to Berthold Bohuslaw ( Bohubud ) von Leipa, who was a leader of the Moravian estates, were confiscated. In 1625 Gundaker von Liechtenstein acquired the Krumlov rule, which then remained in the possession of the House of Liechtenstein for almost 300 years .

In 1835 the village Unter-Dubnian or Dubňany dolný in the Znojmo district consisted of 74 houses, in which 410 people lived. There was a daughter church of St. Wenceslas and a school in the village. Pottery clay was mined in the area. Parish was Ober-Dubnian . Until the middle of the 19th century, Unter-Dubnian remained subject to the Fideikommiss-Primogeniturherrschaft Moravian-Krummau .
