history

The fortress Tvořihráz, built in the 14th century, was the seat of the Vladiken of Tvořihráz; in the 14th and 15th centuries there were also three courtyards in the place. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1349, when Albert von Tvořihráz's widow Hedwig ceded a farm to her brother Wilhelm. From 1351, the Vladiken von Wranyn and Adam von Žerotice also owned parts of the village. Before 1385 Líček von Lulcz came to an agreement with his brothers Johann, Mix and Friedrich, where he exchanged his share of Lulcz for a share of Tvořihráz. In 1406 Sigmund von Platsch bought a share, in 1447 Sigmund Weitmühler von Žerotice became the owner of a farm. In 1481 Brigitta von Lulcz sold the fortress Tvořihráz with the villages Tvořihráz and Psáry to Markus the Elder. J. von Lulcz. In 1492 the Moravian Oberstlandschreiber Tobias von Obřanberg ceded his rights to a court in Tvořihráz to Matthäus Pešek von Tvořihráz.

In 1500 the Znojmo Dominican monastery bought the villages of Tvořihráz and Psáry from Wenceslaus von Bučice for 1,600 groschen. At that time Tvořihráz was a wine-growing place and was surrounded by vineyards and orchards. Together with the Žerotice estate, Wenzel von Weitmühl also left a farm in Tvořihráz to Heinrich Lechvický von Zástřizl in 1512 . In 1588 the monastery pledged the village of Durchlaß for 15 years in return for an annual payment of 200 guilders as well as deliveries in kind to the Moravian governor Hynek von Waldstein auf Pirnitz , who in 1591 allowed him to buy a house to set up a farm. At the beginning of the 17th century the passage was pledged to Karl II von Münsterberg , who ordered Emperor Rudolf II in 1602 to keep the village in good condition and to return it to the monastery after the pledge period had expired. In 1634 the entire village burned down.

After the end of the Thirty Years' War, the Dominicans had the destroyed village rebuilt and the ruins of the fortress were removed. In 1663 the estate was expanded to include a portion from Moratitz that Hartmann von Liechtenstein had given to the Dominicans. In 1666 the prior Anton Misenius von Veit von Nattermann bought two courtyards in Ratišovice with accessories for 8,100 guilders. In 1668 the construction of a new farm in Durchlaß began. At the end of the 17th century several large fires broke out in the passage. In 1689 the foundation stone was laid for a baroque palace as the summer residence of the Znojmo Dominicans. In 1694, extensive wine cellars were built under the castle to store the mass wine , which was supplied to all Dominican monasteries in the country. On August 24, 1749, the monastery acquired the last Freihof , which had previously belonged to Gut Platsch , for 12,000 Rhenish guilders from Johann Wenzel von Widmann. However, the intended sale of the stake in Moratitz and a Lahn in Ribnik did not take place. In 1809 the estate was sacked by French troops. In 1813 a daughter school of the Žerotitz school was established in a chalet . In 1828 a school building was built. In the years 1831 and 1832 several residents died of the oriental breakdown.

In 1834 the monastery estate Durchlaß covered an area of 2337 yoke 1120 square fathoms, on its territory 718 Moravian-speaking Catholics lived in the villages Durchlaß and Ratischowitz ( Ratišovice ) as well as a part of Moratitz. The main source of income was agriculture, with arable farming being the main focus. Viticulture had lost its importance and the Durchlaßer wines were considered mediocre. At that time, however, attempts by the Dominicans had shown that very good wines could also be obtained on the slopes with careful maintenance. The forests were cultivated in two forest districts, the Durchlaßer and the Ratischowitz district. The monastery had two cattle and two sheep farms. The only trades were a brewery, a distillery, a hammer forge and a mill. The village of passage or Twřohráz earlier also Twořerad called, consisted of 94 houses with 450 inhabitants. In the village there was a one-story government castle, a daughter school, a brewery and brandy house, a hammer forge, a tavern and an authoritative beef and sheep farm. The parish was Žerotitz. Until the middle of the 19th century the passage was the official seat of the monastery of the same name.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Tvořiraz / passage in 1849 a municipality in the judicial district of Znojmo. In 1868 the municipality became part of the Znojmo District. At the end of the 19th century, first Tvoříráz , later Tvoříhráz , was used as a Czech place name. In 1899 a volunteer fire brigade was formed. In 1908 a new school building was built. After the First World War , the multi-ethnic state of Austria-Hungary disintegrated and the municipality of Tvoříhráz became part of the newly formed Czechoslovak Republic in 1918 . The current place name Tvořihráz was introduced in 1924.

After the Munich Agreement, Tvořihráz remained with Czechoslovakia in 1938 and was assigned to the Okres Moravské Budějovice. Until 1945 the village was on the border with the German Empire. After the end of the Second World War, Tvořihráz came back to Okres Znojmo. After the February coup in 1948, the Tvořihráz manor and chateau were confiscated from the property of the Znojmo Dominican monastery and nationalized.

At the beginning of the 21st century, the community had the ruined castle that characterizes the town renovated. A small museum has been located there since 2013, and masses are held once a week in the palace chapel.
