Heinrich I von Leipa (Czech Jindřich z Lipé ; * around 1270 ; † August 26, 1329 in Brno ) from the lineage of the Lords of Leipa was royal chamberlain and marshal of the Bohemian King John of Luxembourg . He was an opponent of the king and leader of the Bohemian nobility, who did not recognize the politics of the Luxembourgers .

Life

By 1315 at the latest he got the farms of the extinct family of the Lords of Obřany , especially Moravský Krumlov . As the leader of the Bohemian army, he defeated the Hungarian invaders at Holice in 1315 .

Another problem was the Bohemian Queen Elizabeth , who tried to continue the rule of the Přemyslids . She had Heinrich von Leipa imprisoned in 1315 and thus turned the nobility against them, which led to the civil war in Bohemia. It calmed down when the Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian intervened and strengthened the Bohemian nobility in the so-called Domažlice Agreement . Johann von Luxemburg left Bohemia, which from then on served as a source of finance for him. As a reconciliation, the king released him and gave him some Moravian farms for the Zittau lands . In Moravia he remained landgrave until his death.

Heinrich von Leipa led the Bohemian army at the behest of the emperor against the newly formed Hungarians who invaded Moravia . They besieged the castle of Holič, which was captured by the Hungarian king, and chased away the conquerors. Another dispute between King and Heinrich occurred when he married the youngest daughter of Wenzel II to Duke Heinrich I von Jauer without asking the king and gave him the city of Königgrätz . For this act, Heinrich von Leipa was imprisoned in Týřov Castle in 1315 . Immediately there was an uprising of the Bohemian nobility against the king, who then had to dismiss Heinrich.

In the same year Johann von Luxemburg was asked for military help by the German Emperor Ludwig . Johann left Prague and handed the government over to Queen Elisabeth during his absence. There was again an uprising of the Bohemian nobility and a civil war. Elisabeth summoned mercenaries who were not up to the Bohemian power, then withdrew to Loket Castle and called her husband to help, who with his army, reinforced by mercenaries and loyal Bohemian supporters, raided and plundered the castles and farms of the rebels . The Bohemian side allied with Moravia and asked the Austrians for support. Thereupon the German emperor promised the Luxembourgers support so as not to lose Bohemia to Austria. Due to the new superiority, the Bohemian nobility was forced into new negotiations. In the agreement of Domažlice the Bohemian nobles were given back the courts and castles and the king had to return the offices to his opponents, including the function of chamberlain to Heinrich von Leipa.

Heinrich was married to Agnes von Hardegg († September 7, 1335, buried in the Clarissa convent in Znaim ).
