The Catholic branch church St. Antonius is a church building in Wiemeringhausen , a district of the city of Olsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

A previous chapel was mentioned at the end of the 16th century. The last one stood in 1770 on the school square close to the street. An oil painting in the format 31 × 45 cm hangs from this chapel in the school, on which the simple rectangular building is depicted with a roof turret over the west gable. Today's church, consecrated to St. Antonius Einsiedler , was built in 1922 and is located directly on the Ruhr .

Furnishing

  • A 90 cm high stone figure of the church patron St. Antonius Abbas was previously in a niche in the previous church. In the curved front surface on the base is written: ANO 1787
  • Remnants of the 17th century altar were used in the construction of the new altar from the 20th century
  • The relief in the door panel of the confessional is 27 × 44 cm. It shows the arrival of the Norbertine monks on the Wildenstein.
  • The pulpit was renewed with remains from the 18th century. It originally stood in the old church in Siedlinghausen.
  • A gilded copper monstrance was made around 1800. It is 91 cm high, the oval base measures 18 × 22 cm. The double halo around the oval lunula capsule is covered with ears and foliage. At the top there is a cross set with stones.
