The chapel of St. Antonius of Padua in Hofen, a part of the municipality of Stötten am Auerberg , is located on the southwest slope of the Auerberg in the Bavarian district of Ostallgäu .

history

The late baroque building erected in 1709 received its furnishings mainly around 1750 to 1770. The village chapel was last renovated in 1954 and before 2010.

description

The stately chapel, which is almost the size of a small branch church, is divided into a two-year long nave with ox-eye windows and a one-year choir with a semicircular end. The west tower with onion dome precedes the gable side.
The nave has a flat ceiling inside, the main fresco of which depicts the coronation of Mary . The high altar around 1750, a four-pillar, marbled structure, shows Saint Anthony kneeling at the feet of Our Lady in the altar panel. The Altar of Sorrows (left) and the cross altar (right) were also made around 1750. The figures of saints on the nave walls date from 1670 to 1770/80. The Stations of the Cross were painted in the middle of the 19th century.
