Church of St. Apollonia in Silheim

The Catholic Church of St. Apollonia in Silheim , a district of the municipality of Bibertal in the Swabian district of Günzburg ( Bavaria ), was built in the 15th century. The church at Ortsstraße 26, in the walled cemetery, is a protected monument .

architecture

The late Gothic building was redesigned in Baroque style in the second quarter of the 18th century . The gable turret with a profiled console and onion dome was built in 1730.

Furnishing

The Gothic choir has a ceiling painting (around 1730/40) by Johann Jakob Kuen , father of the painter Franz Martin Kuen , depicting St. Urban with martyr's palm. Late Gothic figures of saints stand on consoles in the flat-closing choir.
