The parish church of St. Bartholomäus is a Catholic church in Bad Brückenau . It belongs to the parish of St. Bartholomew, which is part of the parish community of St. Georg - Maria Ehrenberg in the dean's office in Hammelburg.

history

The parish of Brückenau was created as a branch church of Oberleichtersbach . Several previous buildings can be identified at the site of today's parish church. A wooden church that was occupied around 840 was replaced by a stone building in the 10th century, which was expanded to the west around 1200 and supplemented with a defensive tower. Around 1360 the church building was Gothicized and a choir room was added to the east.

Only in 1694 did Brückenau become an independent parish. Due to lack of space, it was decided in 1780 to demolish the old church. The bridge builder Johann Georg Link was entrusted with the planning of the new building. He designed a building measuring 31 × 14 meters in area and 10.5 meters high in simple late baroque forms. The inauguration took place on July 20, 1783 by the Fulda auxiliary bishop Lothar Freiherr von Breidbach zu Burresheim. The organ was installed in 1784 by Daniel Suckfüll from Untererthal.

After the great fire of 1876, the church was rebuilt from 1877 to 1879.

Organ and bells

Bruno Müller from Aschaffenburg built a new organ , the bells came from the Klaus brothers in Heidingsfeld . In 1951 and 1970 to 1972 fundamental interior renovations took place. The church received its third organ from the Bernhard Schmitt company (Gelnhausen). Today's instrument is a two-manual organ with 32 registers and an advance register by Orgelbau Romanus Seifert (Kevelaer), which was built on February 8, 2009 by the then Würzburg auxiliary bishop em.
