Oberleichtersbach is a municipality in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen and a member of the Bad Brückenau administrative community .

location
Oberleichtersbach is located south of the Rhön and west of the Spessart in the Adelsberg Forest, a natural area of the southern Rhön . It is located in the Main-Rhön region about four kilometers south-southeast of Bad Brückenau . The source of the Schondra tributary, Leichtersbach, is close by . The Franconian Marienweg leads through Oberleichtersbach .

history
Until the church is planted
The municipality was first mentioned in a document in 812. Secularized as the office of the Fulda bishopric in favor of Archduke Ferdinand of Orange in 1803, it fell to France in 1806 as part of the province of Fulde (from 1810 a department of the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt of the Prince Primate of Dalberg ) and was awarded to Austria at the Congress of Vienna in 1815. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent communities of Breitenbach, Mitgenfeld, Modlos and Unterleichtersbach were incorporated.

The population is predominantly Catholic . Oberleichtersbach is the seat of the Roman Catholic parish of St. Peter and Paul , which is part of the Hammelburg deanery of the Würzburg diocese . The subsidiary church of the Holy Family is located in the district of Breitenbach, and the subsidiary church of St. James the Elder in Modlos . There is a chapel in Unterleichtersbach.

The first mayor has been Dieter Muth (active voter group Breitenbach / Mitgenfeld) since May 1, 2014; he was re-elected on March 15, 2020 with 73.2% of the vote. His deputies are Roland Wehner (2nd Mayor, FWG Modlos) and Maria Knüttel (3rd Mayor, FCW Oberleichtersbach).

Coat of arms history: Oberleichtersbach was first mentioned in writing in 812 and belonged to the Fulda bishopric until the end of the old empire in 1803 . Prince Abbot Placidus von Droste (1678–1700) had the parish church of St. Peter and Paul built and a coat of arms mounted above the portal in which the coat of arms of Fulda Abbey (the Fulda cross) and the coat of arms of Prince Droste are united. The municipality chose these two heraldic symbols for its coat of arms.
The coat of arms was awarded by the government of Lower Franconia on December 5, 1980.
Attractions
The subsidiary church of the Holy Family in the Breitenbach district, which was built from 1905 to 1906, is essentially neo-Gothic , but also has elements of Art Nouveau, especially in the original furnishings and painting from the period of construction.
The steel observation tower Dreistelzberg on the 660.4 m above sea level. NHN high Dreistelzberg allows a distant view far into neighboring Hesse.

Economy and Infrastructure
The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of 866,000 euros in 1999, of which the trade tax revenue (net) amounted to the equivalent of 155,000 euros.
Economy including agriculture and forestry
In 1998, according to official statistics, there were six in the field of agriculture and forestry, 428 in the manufacturing sector and 67 in the trade and transport sector at the place of work. In other economic sectors 42 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were a total of 735 employees at the place of residence subject to social insurance contributions. There were two companies in the manufacturing sector and two companies in the construction sector. In addition, in 1999 there were 84 farms with an agricultural area of 2091 hectares, of which 788 hectares were arable land and 1296 hectares were permanent green space.
