Großer Auersberg is a municipality-free area in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen in Bavaria .

The 4.67 km² state forest borders on Wildflecken , Riedenberg and Bad Brückenau . In the area is the eponymous 808.6  m above sea level. NN high Great Auerberg . In the north-west the area borders on the Wildflecken military training area .

The area is part of the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park and the LSG Bayerische Rhön landscape protection area . Parts of the area are part of the fauna-flora-habitat area and the EU bird sanctuary area Bayerische Hohe Rhön .
