Coat of arms history
Burkardroth is a young community and was created in 1972 through the amalgamation of the formerly independent communities mentioned above under community structure. The crossed lily stems in the coat of arms are taken from the coat of arms of the former Cistercian convent Frauenroth. Otto Graf von Botenlauben-Henneberg sold his property to the Hochstift Würzburg in 1231. He built the monastery in 1234, which was closed in 1574. The chess in the coat of arms of the municipality comes from the coat of arms of these counts. It indicates its importance for the municipality. The grave of the monastery founder is in the former monastery church. The crossed maces were taken from the coat of arms of the forest masters of Lebenhan-Rotenkolben. For a large part of the municipality they were the forest masters in the so-called salt forest.
The coat of arms was awarded on June 28, 1974 by the government of Lower Franconia.
Town twinning
In 1989 an official community friendship was made with Ense (North Rhine-Westphalia).
Sights and monuments
The most important sights and monuments of the market are the parish church St. Petrus in Ketten from the 17th century, the smiling Madonna von Lauter, the museum barn in Katzenbach and the monastery church Frauenroth with the high grave of Otto von Botenlauben and his wife Beatrix .
