Location of Stralsbach in Bavaria

The lower village from the southwest

Stralsbach is part of the Lower Franconian market Burkardroth in the Bad Kissingen district in Bavaria.

Geographical location

Stralsbach is located south of Burkardroth. The KG 15 runs through the village and heads west to the Burkardrother district of Lauter and crosses the B 286 between Bad Kissingen and Bad Brückenau ; Eastward the KG 15 joins the St 2430 (to Burkardroth or Aschach ).

General

The place is located at 310 meters above sea level at the foot of the Mühlberg in the Rhön Biosphere Reserve . After Bad Kissingen is ten kilometers. 256 hectares of forest belong to Stralsbach. The Hochrhöner , a 180-kilometer hiking trail, runs through the village . The local officer is Bernd Müller.

history

In 1234 an Albertus de Strelebach signed a document as a witness. This was the first mention of the place. Stralsbach became an independent parish in 1594. The first school is attested in 1625 for the first time. New schools were built in 1783 and 1965. In 1594 the old church was torn down and a new one was built. This was also renewed in 1801 because it had become dilapidated. The church stands high above the village as a mountain church .

On January 1, 1972, the place was incorporated into Burkardroth as part of the municipal reform . Original plans to incorporate Stralsbach into Bad Kissingen failed due to the spatial distance between the two places. In October 1971, surveys and votes had taken place in the villages that were to be incorporated into Burkardroth. Of the 186 votes cast in Stralsbach, 117 were in favor of incorporation. Stralsbach's last mayor before incorporation was Benno Schlereth.

Buildings and plants

St. Oswald Church

The St. Oswald Church was built in 1801 and replaced a previous building possibly built in 1618 instead of an even older church. In 1974 the St. Oswald Church was supplemented with an extensive extension; the previous structure is only partially available.

War memorial chapel

The war memorial chapel on the village's Stationsberg dates from 1865 and was consecrated as the war memorial chapel in 1921. The Stations of the Cross, which lead from the Silberdistelweg to the chapel, were built as early as 1860. The Chapel of Our Lady at the foot of the Way of the Cross was built in 1892.
