Village linden

Gefäll is a district of the market Burkardroth in the Bad Kissingen district in Bavaria , Lower Franconia administrative region . The village has about 600 inhabitants. The individual properties Hartmühle and Metzenmühle also belonged to the municipality , which was independent until 1971 and is now part of the district . They were located on the left bank of the Kleine Steinach, which flows around the town in the south and which forms the boundary (former municipality boundary) in the south.

Geographical location

Gefäll is north of Burkardroth behind Stangenroth , the second largest district of Burkardroth.

Coming from Stangenroth, KG 19 leads through a slope and joins St 2267 , which on the one hand joins St 2290 and on the other leads to Premich . The B 286 runs south of Gefäll between Bad Kissingen and Bad Brückenau .

history

The exact beginning of the settlement of Gefäll is unclear. It was first mentioned in 1574 during the tribute to Julius Echter .

The first school building was erected in 1806 and rebuilt a century later.

In the German War of 1866 between Prussia and Austria, a battalion of the Bavarian troops allied with Austria stayed in Gefäll from July 8th to 10th. On July 10th these troops took part in the Battle of Kissingen , in which they were defeated by the Prussian army.

In 1937 the place received a kindergarten (temporarily closed), named after the patron saint of the place, Sankt Antonius, and in 1960 the sports field on Feuerbergstrasse.

On January 1, 1972 Gefäll was incorporated into the Burkardroth market. In October 1971 surveys and votes had taken place in the villages incorporated after Burkardroth; Of the 160 votes cast in favor, 113 were in favor of incorporation. Franz Bühner was the last mayor in favor of the incorporation.

Buildings and plants

St. Anthony Church

The Gefäller St. Antonius Church was built between 1853 and 1862. In 1862, the Parisian Victoire-Félicie Bailliot donated the church seating to the Countess of Béhague. Today's high altar and probably also the two side altars of the church come from the Würzburg sculptor Heinz Schiestl . In 1977/78 the church was extended by two side aisles . On October 12, 1998, a lightning strike in the church tower caused damage; the repairs took six weeks.

Lady Chapel

In 1908 the Lady Chapel and the associated Lourdes Grotto were donated. A cross roof shrine from 1629 and a crucifix from 1823 also belong to the complex.

General

The 8142 Premich– Bad Kissingen bus stops in town . The international prefabricated house company WolfHaus is based in the village. The football club DJK Gefäll plays in class B 3 of the Rhön district. Other associations are the Gefäll volunteer fire brigade and the Harmonie choral society .

The village linden tree at the junction of Feuerbergstrasse-Köhlerstrasse is included in the list of natural monuments in the Bad Kissingen district.
